ALL RECIPES BAKING RECIPES CANDY RECIPES COCKTAIL RECIPES COOKING RECIPES Create Account Questions Recipes Video Classes Zoom Classes Homemade Waffles 10 mins 2-4 Recipe you are creating: Homemade Waffles Who doesn't love the smell of freshly made waffles on a lazy Sunday morning? Homemade waffles are not only delicious, but also easy to make! Waffles have been around for centuries! The first waffle recipe dates back to the 14th century in Belgium. There are two main types of waffles: Belgian and American. Belgian waffles are thicker and have deeper pockets, while American waffles are thinner and have shallower pockets. The secret to a crispy waffle is using a mixture that has both baking soda and baking powder. Baking soda helps to brown the waffle while baking powder helps it rise. Waffles are incredibly versatile and can be enjoyed sweet or savory. Sweet waffles are typically served with toppings like whipped cream, fruit, and maple syrup, while savory waffles are often served with chicken and gravy or eggs and bacon. Homemade waffles can be frozen and reheated in a toaster or oven for a quick and easy breakfast on the go. So go ahead, whip up a batch of homemade waffles and enjoy a tasty breakfast or brunch with family and friends! Be sure to check out our how-to video for making the perfect waffles. ALL RECIPES BAKING RECIPES CANDY RECIPES COCKTAIL RECIPES COOKING RECIPES Create Account Questions Recipes Video Classes Zoom Classes Streusel Topping 5 mins 1 cup Recipe you are creating: Streusel Topping How to Make Streusel Topping Streusel topping – the ultimate crunchy, buttery, sweet sprinkle of joy that makes everything better. Whether you're topping muffins, coffee cakes, or pies, streusel adds that golden, crumbly perfection we all crave. What's streusel topping, you ask? It's a heavenly mix of butter, sugar, and flour, sometimes jazzed up with nuts, oats, or spices. Picture this: a crisp, sweet layer that melts in your mouth and adds a killer texture to any dessert. 🤤 Why use it? Because life’s too short for boring baked goods! Streusel takes your treats from basic to boss-level, adding flavor and crunch that’ll have everyone asking for seconds. Recipe Ingredients: 1⁄4 cup pecans 1⁄4 cup all-purpose flour 1⁄8 cup brown sugar 1⁄4 cup rolled oats Pinch of salt 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into 1⁄2-inch pieces See the Pear Apple Galette recipe for application. Recipe Directions: Toast the pecan in a single layer for about 7 minutes. When cooled, chop it into small pieces. In a small bowl, combine the flour with the sugar and salt. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture is coarse crumbs. Add the chopped nuts and oats. Ball the streusel into dime-sized clumps. Chill in freezer for 20 minutes. You can add this to quick fruit bakes, pies and galettes. See the Pear Apple Galette recipe for application. What is a Streusel topping? Streusel topping is basically a sweet and buttery crumb topping that is often added over muffins, cakes, and pies before they are put into the oven. What is the difference between streusel and crumble topping? Essentially streusel and crumb topping are the same thing. They are both made with a mixture of flour, butter, and sugar. And both are used to add another layer of flavor and texture to baked goods. What's the difference between apple crumble and streusel? A crumble is just a crisp without oats in the streusel. It may feature nuts, but the streusel topping is usually a simple combination of butter, flour, and sugar that is clumpier than that of a crisp. Perfect in: Muffins 🧁 Coffee cakes ☕ Pies 🥧 Quick breads 🍞 And pretty much anything you want to level up! Pro Tips for Perfect Streusel: Cold Butter – Keep it chilly for those perfect, clumpy bits. Mix by Hand – Use your fingers for the best texture. Play with Flavors – Add cinnamon, nuts, or oats for an extra twist. Why You'll Love It: Flavor Bomb – Sweet, buttery, and a touch of spice – it's a flavor explosion! Texture Heaven – That perfect crunch contrasts beautifully with soft, tender baked goods. ALL RECIPES BAKING RECIPES CANDY RECIPES COCKTAIL RECIPES COOKING RECIPES Create Account Questions Recipes Video Classes Zoom Classes Blackberry Cream Pie 15 mins (1) 9 inch pie Recipe you are creating: Blackberry Cream Pie One of my best memories of my Grandma is going blackberry picking in the wild. We'd canvas the streets and the woods near her house and load up our buckets with big, ripe blackberries. This pie was Grandma's signature pie. I can still feel the sun on my back as I sat on the picnic table on her back deck and dove into a warm piece of her blackberry cream pie! This pie is super easy to make and will become a family favorite in your house too. Recipe Ingredients: 1 cup heavy cream 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup cornstarch 4 cups fresh blackberries (don't substitute frozen!) 1 9 inch pie crust Recipe Directions: Lay the 4 cups of blackberries into the bottom of the pie crust. Shift the sugar and cornstarch. Gradually add in the heavy cream and stir until completely blended. Pour over the blackberries. Bake at 425 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Top of the pie will be lightly browned. Remove from oven. Cool to room temperature and serve. You Might Also Like: Baking Classes You Might Like! ALL RECIPES BAKING RECIPES CANDY RECIPES COCKTAIL RECIPES COOKING RECIPES Create Account Questions Recipes Video Classes Zoom Classes Graham Cracker Pie Crust 15 mins 1 crust Recipe you are creating: Graham Cracker Pie Crust Graham cracker crusts are so versatile! From cheese cake to frozen desserts, graham crackers make the perfect bottom to your favorite confection. Recipe Ingredients: 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 15 squares) 3 tablespoons sugar 1/3 cup butter, melted Recipe Directions: Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine graham cracker crumbs and sugar in a medium bowl and stir to mix them well. Add the butter and stir to mix it evenly into the crumbs mixture. Press the buttery crumbs into a 9-inch pie pan, distributing the mixture evenly, and pressing firmly with your hands or another pie pan of the same size, to flatten the crumbs and shape a sturdy crust to hold the filling. Make sure to work the crumbs up to the rim of the pan, to make a good, strong edge. Place the crust on the center shelf of the oven. Bake at until the crust is heated through and lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Place the crust on a cooling rack and let it cool to room temperature before adding the filling. NOTE: You can purchase graham cracker crumbs in the baking section of the grocery store. If you purchase graham crackers, you can make crumbs using a food processor. Just break the graham crackers into medium pieces, and put them into the work bowl of a food processor. Pulse to break pieces down into bits. Process until you have fine crumbs, stopping once or twice to scrape the sides and grind them evenly. Measure out 1 1/4 cups, and prepare the crust as directed.
