- Cream Scone Recipe | Learn To Bake and Cook | Epicurean Delights
This versitile recipe is best when made with freeze dried fruit. cream scones Fresh blueberries tend to bleed when added to a quick bread recipe. We use freeze dried blueberries to our cream scones. They add a delicious extra rush of flavor and maintain their color and consistency. Our cream scones develop a wonderful texture if the dough is frozen overnight. Freeze individual scones, and then bake as many as needed straight for the freezer to accompany breakfast, brunch or dinner. Download Recipe Card Shop/Buy Project Supplies Ask Questions/Forum How to make Cream Scones What you are creating: Our cream scones are light on the inside with a crunchy exterior. They bake best if you freeze the dough overnight. Add any freeze dried fruit to give your scone an extra burst of flavor. Ingredients: ½ cup sugar 3 ¾ cup bread flour, or pastry flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons salt 1 cup freeze dried blueberries 2 ½ cups heavy cream, chilled Cooking spray for greasing Egg wash ( 1 large egg whisked with 2 tablespoons heavy cream) Directions: Combine the sugar, flour, baking powder and salt in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until well blended, about 1 minute. Add the cream and mix on medium speed until just combined. Remove the dough from the mixer, and carefully blend the freeze dried blueberries into the dough. Pat into a 10-inch round ¼ inch thick, and divide into 12 equal wedges. Wrap in plastic and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until solid. Once dough is frozen, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet. Arrange the frozen scones on the baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake until golden brown, 35-40 minutes. Let the scones cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Let cool completely before serving. Makes approximately 2 dozen scones. Variations: Substitute blueberries with 2 tablespoons grated orange zest and 1 cup dried cranberries. Substitute any freeze dried fruit for the blueberries. Related Projects:

- Kids Pie Project | Epicurean Delights
This pie project is easy to make and beautiful! Savory Baking Candy Kids Semi-Homemade Healthy Cocktail Kids Floral Pie Project Who doesn't love a good pie? Even better with this fun decorative crust made by our our resident Jr. Chef Rylan. The decorative floral pie crust is easy to make, kid friendly, kid tested, and a wonderful family project. Follow Rylan's process below and enjoy! Supplies Needed: Pie dough (homemade or store bought, rolled out) Pie filling of your choice Any type of flower shaped cookie or fondant cutter Ball tool Basic Instructions Take your rolled out pie dough and use a flower cutter of your choice to cut out flowers. A 9" round disk of pie dough was used for this project, and using a 1.5" flower cutter, yielded enough flowers to cover the whole pie and extra to bake up for the middle flowers and to enjoy for a snack! :) The process is simple, slightly over lap the flowers as your work your way around the crust. Give each flower a light push in the center of the petal to ensure the adhere to each other. We opted not to egg wash our flowers as we were staying egg free, but you certainly brush each flower with and egg wash. Creating the Floral Crust Cut out pie crust flowers You can use any type of pie dough, homemade or frozen. Use a cookie cutter Use any type of floral cookie cutter to stamp out your pie crust flowers. Release flower from cutter Use a ball tool to push pie crust flower out of cutter. Add fruit of your choice Use your favorite fruit pie recipe (we used our blackberry cream pie). Place your fruit in a pie crust that you have pre-baked for 11 minutes. This will ensure the dough doesn't get soggy. Make the pie filling Mix pie filling of your choice. We used a heavy cream base for our pie. Cover fruit Pour your cream filling over the fruit. Cover well! Be sure your liquid filling covers most of the fruit to ensure a delicious pie. Place flowers Place your pie crust flowers around the edge of the pie. Adhere dough Push flower center to adhere dough to the crust. This will ensure it doesn't fall off during baking. Bake up your pie and enjoy! You can brush your dough with an egg wash if you choose, or just bake as-is and enjoy!

ALL RECIPES BAKING RECIPES CANDY RECIPES COCKTAIL RECIPES COOKING RECIPES Create Account Questions Recipes Video Classes Zoom Classes Balsamic Glazed Asparagus 10 mins 4 Recipe you are creating: Balsamic Glazed Asparagus April and May are the best months to buy asparagus! Our balsamic glazed asparagus recipe is quick and easy to make either in the oven or outdoors on the grill. Balsamic glaze brings out the flavor in fresh asparagus. And fresh slices of fresh lemon finish the dish off perfectly. Great as a side dish and left overs are great thrown on a salad the next day. Balsamic glaze brings out the flavor in fresh asparagus. Grill it on the barbecue or roast in the oven. Finish with slices of fresh lemon. There are many brands of balsamic glazes on the market and most of them contain a lot of sugar. Be sure to check out our homemade recipe on the site which has just a touch of brown sugar. We add it to a good quality balsamic vinegar and simmer it until it turns sweet and has a syrup-like consistency. Its great on asparagus and on a nice Caprese salad. Recipe Ingredients: 2 pounds fresh asparagus Avocado oil spray Balsamic glaze 1 fresh lemon, sliced Salt Recipe Directions: Prep work: Be sure to chose thin, uniform stalks of asparagus. They take less time to cook and have a better texture. Cut the woody ends off the stalks. I like to bend them and let them snap by themselves. This assures that the tough ends are all removed. Trim any rough ends. Line your baking dish or grilling pan with aluminum foil and preheat before adding the veggie. The grill marks add a ton of flavor to the asparagus. Baking: Preheated to 425 degrees. Place your foil lined pan in the oven for 5 minutes. Note: You will want the asparagus to sizzle when it hits the foil. Spray the asparagus with the avocado oil, and toss to coat on all sides. Season generously with salt. Remove pan from oven and place the spears on the foil and spray lightly with oil. Bake at 425 degrees for five minutes. Remove from oven and turn the spears ensuring all sides are charred. Add lemon slices and bake until the asparagus is tender. Grilling: Preheat the grilling pan in the grill. Add the salted and oiled asparagus to the preheated grilling pan. Place on grill and close the lid. Bake until lightly charred. Turn the spears and close the lid and bake several minutes. Turn spears and add the fresh lemon slices. Cook until spears are tender. Variations: Slice one large sweet yellow onion. Grill onions slices in a separate pan (following above instructions). Toss with the grilled asparagus. Add the fresh lemon slices. Cook until the veggies are tender.
