- Balsamic Glazed Asparagus Recipe | Learn To Bake and Cook | Epicurean Delights
How to create XXX balsamic glazed asparagus Balsamic glaze brings out the flavor in fresh asparagus. Grill it on the barbecue or roast in the oven. Finish with slices of fresh lemon. There are many brands of balsamic glazes on the market and most of them contain a lot of sugar. Our homemade recipe has just a touch of brown sugar. We add it to a good quality balsamic vinegar and simmer it until it turns sweet and has a syrup-like consistency. Download Recipe Card Shop/Buy Project Supplies Ask Questions/Forum How to make Balsamic Glazed Asparagus Difficulty: Easy What you are creating: Asparagus paired beautifully with a balsamic glaze. Grill on the b arbecue or roast in the oven. Garnish with fresh lemon rounds. Ingredients: 2 pounds fresh asparagus Avocado oil spray Balsamic glaze 1 fresh lemon, sliced Salt Directions: Prep work: Be sure to chose thin, uniform stalks of asparagus. They take less time to cook and have a better texture. Cut the woody ends off the stalks. I like to bend them and let them snap by themselves. This assures that the tough ends are all removed. Trim any rough ends. Line your baking dish or grilling pan with aluminum foil and preheat before adding the veggie. The grill marks add a ton of flavor to the asparagus. Baking: Preheated to 425 degrees. Place your foil lined pan in the oven for 5 minutes. Note: You will want the asparagus to sizzle when it hits the foil. Spray the asparagus with the avocado oil, and toss to coat on all sides. Season generously with salt. Remove pan from oven and place the spears on the foil and spray lightly with oil. Bake at 425 degrees for five minutes. Remove from oven and turn the spears ensuring all sides are charred. Add lemon slices and bake until the asparagus is tender. Grilling: Preheat the grilling pan in the grill. Add the salted and oiled asparagus to the preheated grilling pan. Place on grill and close the lid. Bake until lightly charred. Turn the spears and close the lid and bake several minutes. Turn spears and add the fresh lemon slices. Cook until spears are tender. Makes approximately 4 servings. Variations: Slice one large sweet yellow onion. Grill onions slices in a separate pan (following above instructions). Toss with the grilled asparagus. Add the fresh lemon slices. Cook until the veggies are tender. Related Projects:

- Mom's Real Butter Icing Recipe | Learn To Bake and Cook | Epicurean Delights
Mom knows best and her real butter icing is the best of the best! mom's Real Butter Icing Most icings are called buttercream but they don't all contain butter. Bakeries typically use high ratio shortening in their icing. My mom's creamy, not too sweet real butter icing, is a twist on a recipe she got from her old friend, Butch, when they worked together in the bakery at Stock Market Foods in Silverdale, WA. Mom says her icing is the real deal , because she uses real butter. Download Recipe Card Shop/Buy Project Supplies Ask Questions/Forum How to make Mom's Real Butter Icing Difficulty: Easy What you are creating: Delicious and rich and not too sweet, this icing uses real butter instead of shortening. Worried about it not being true white? The more you mix it the lighter the color becomes. Ingredients: 1 pound butter 2 pounds powdered sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste 1/4 cup milk, half and half, or cream Directions: To get the best results, use a really good stand mixer, like a KitchenAid. Place the butter in the mixer and beat until it's fluffy. Add the powdered sugar, a couple cups at a time, alternating with the milk and vanilla. Once all the ingredients have been added, you need to beat the you-know-what out it! Put that mixer on medium to medium high and beat it until it is light and fluffy. If it's too thick, you can add more milk, but add it a tablespoon at a time. Makes approximately 4-6 cups of icing. Variations: Chocolate Icing: Add two tablespoons cocoa powder to the butter and beat until fluffy. Related Projects:
