Quick Mushroom Marinara Sauce Recipe

Hey there, kitchen adventurer! So you want to tackle the challenge of making marinara sauce from scratch? We have the perfect marinara sauce recipe that only takes about 15 mins to make.

Mushrooms and tomatoes are a great combination for creating quick and easy. Not only are they both flavorful and nutritious, but they're also easy to find at most grocery stores year-round.

One of the simplest ways to enjoy them is to sauté them together with some fresh garlic, chopped onions and olive oil. This makes for a delicious and healthy side dish that can be served with just about anything. For a heartier meal, try making our quick mushroom marinara sauce recipe and toss with any type of cooked pasta.

Another great option is to make a warm and comforting tomato and mushroom soup. Simply sauté some chopped onions, garlic, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a pot with some olive oil, then add vegetable broth and simmer until everything is tender. You can then puree the mixture with an immersion blender or transfer it to a regular blender to make it smooth.

In addition to these savory options, mushrooms and tomatoes can also be used in sweet dishes like pies and tarts. Try making a tomato and mushroom quiche or a mushroom and tomato tart for a unique and delicious twist on traditional pies.

How to Make Basic Marinara Sauce

You'll need some ripe tomatoes (or high quality canned tomatoes), garlic, onions, olive oil, basil, salt, and pepper. Of course, you can always add your own twist to the recipe (like we did with our recipe at the bottom of this post), but these are the basics.

In a large Dutch oven heat up some olive oil over medium heat. Throw in your chopped onions, and garlic and let them cook until they're soft and fragrant. Next, add in your chopped tomatoes, along with some Italian herbs of your choice (dried oregano is always a good pick) and let it all simmer for about 45 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally so nothing sticks to the bottom.

Once your sauce is looking thick and rich, it's time to add in some fresh basil, salt, and pepper. Give it a taste test and adjust the seasoning as needed. And voila! You've just made your very own marinara sauce from scratch.

Now, the real fun begins - using it in all sorts of delicious recipes! Pour it over some spaghetti, use it as a pizza sauce, or even dip some crusty Italian bread in it. The possibilities are endless. So go ahead and get messy in the kitchen, because cooking from scratch is always a fun and tasty adventure.
