Mille-feuille with Fresh Berries and Fresh Mint

Try this flaky pastry dessert recipe with fresh in season berries!

I am a total sucker for a flaky puff pastry dessert! Give me a Napoleon and I'm a happy girl! So naturally when I saw that you can get puff pastry in the freezer section of almost any grocery store I had to try it!

I decided to make a semi-homemade Mille-feuille. Mille-feuille is a French phrase that translates to “one thousand leaves”. In pastry, it refers to the multiple thin layers that create the light, flaky texture found in a puff pastry dessert.

Trust me; making this type of pastry from scratch isn’t easy! So naturally, I was curious as to how this dessert would turn out using the frozen puff pastry from the grocery store.

I have to admit, the pre-made puff pastry was a HUGE time saver and I was pretty impressed with how it turned out (for being a pre-made item).

It was flaky, nicely layered and delicious with custard cream, freshly whipped cream and in season berries. I garnished the whole thing with some fresh mint from my herb garden and viola, dessert is served! Try it! You will love how quick and easy it is!
