It's made with vegetables, often with the addition of pasta or beans, sometimes both. You can get creative with this soup! Download Recipe Card Shop/Buy Project Supplies Ask Questions/Forum How to make Minestrone Soup What you are creating: A super thick soup made with vegetables pasta and beans. Ingredients: 4 tablespoons olive oil 1 sweet yellow onion, chopped 2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped 2 medium ribs celery, chopped 1/4 cup tomato paste 2 cups chopped seasonal vegetables vegetables (potatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, parsnips, green beans or peas) 5 minced garlic cloves ½ teaspoon dried oregano ½ teaspoon dried thyme 1 large can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, with liquid 32 ounces vegetable broth 2 cups water 1 teaspoon salt 2 bay leaves Pinch of red pepper flakes Freshly ground black pepper 1 cup elbow or small shell pasta 1 can (15 ounces) Great Northern or Cannellini beans 2 cups baby spinach 1 teaspoons lemon juice Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for garnishing Directions Cook the pasta al dente according to package instructions. Rinse with cold water and drain well. Set aside. Place 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a large Dutch oven or pot over medium heat. Once the oil has heated, add the chopped onion, carrot, celery, tomato paste and a pinch of salt. Sauté until the veggies are soft and the onions are translucent. Add the seasonal vegetables, garlic, oregano and thyme. Cook until the herbs are aromatic, about 2 minutes. Pour in the diced tomatoes and juices, broth and water. Add the salt, bay leaves and red pepper flakes. Raise heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil and cover. Reduce heat to maintain a gentle simmer. Cook for 15 minutes, then remove the lid and add the pasta, beans and greens. Continue simmering, uncovered, for about 5 minutes or until the greens are tender. Remove the pot from the heat. Remove the bay leaves. Stir in the lemon juice and remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper as desired. Garnish each bowl of soup with fresh grated Parmesan. Serve with warm bread sticks or Italian bread. Makes approximately 6-10 servings. Serve with crisp bread! Are you a Member of the site? Pre-Prep: You will want to use the dies listed under supplies needed and cut them out ahead of time in wafer paper of your choice. Supplies Needed: You can purchase these products online. There are many scrapbook machines on the market. If you're an avid scrapbooker, you can use the machine you already own. Scrapbook Machine Grand Peony Die Set by Spellbinders Piping Gel Fondant or Modeling Chocolate Ball Tool Wafer Paper Pink Luster Dust & Super Pearl Dust Brush Related Tutorials: To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key. Creating the Peony Step 1 If you live in a climate that dries out your wafer paper use a little bit of piping gel to condition it prior to shaping. Step 2 Shape the petals and give them movement by rolling them slightly on the back of a paint brush. Step 3 Add color dust in the center of your flower. Step 4 Next outline the petals with color. Step 5 Add a pearl dust to the middle of the petals. Step 6 Create a disc out of modeling chocolate or fondant and add piping gel glue. Step 7 Start with your largest petals. Step 8 Add gel glue between layers. Step 9 Layer until you have your last petal. Step 10 Twist your last petal together to create a center out of it. Step 11 Attach with gel glue and your done!

I usually make a 9 inch pie, however, my son loves the individual pies the best because he's such a fan of the crust. Use store bought crust to save some time! Download Recipe Card Shop/Buy Project Supplies Ask Questions/Forum How to make Turkey Pot Pie What you are creating: A super delicious pie made from your turkey left overs. Ingredients: Turkey stock 2 tablespoons flour for each cup of stock 2 tablespoons butter for each cup of stock 1 pound bag of baby carrots 1/2 bag frozen peas Pie crust for a double crust pie (store bought our use one of our delicious pie crust recipes !) Directions Par boil the baby carrots, drain, rinse with cold water and set aside. Thicken the stock with 2 tablespoons of flour per 1 cup of liquid. Melt butter and use a whisk or wooden spoon to incorporate the flour, stirring constantly until it bubbles. Gradually add in the stock until I have the right consistency. Add a half bag of frozen peas and the cooked carrots to the mixture. You can be creative with your veggies! Try adding potato cubes, frozen corn or broccoli florets. Pull off all the bits of turkey from the carcass and add it to the stock gravy. Pour into bottom pie crust. Top with remaining pie crust. Makes approximately one 9 inch pie. Variations: Use store bought pie crust and line a 9 inch pie with one crust. Add the pie mixture and top with the remaining crust. Bake at 375 degrees until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. If you're making for a large group of people, place the turkey filling in a 9x13 pan. Ingredients: One large, deep-dish 9-inch graham cracker crust 1/3 cup (51 g) cornstarch 1/3 cup (76 g) cold water 6 cups (978 g) hulled, coarsely-chopped strawberries, fresh or frozen, about 1 1/2 pounds 1 cup (203 g) sugar 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) salt 1 tablespoon (13 g) butter 1/2 teaspoon (1.5 g) vanilla or almond extract 1 1/4 cups (297 g) heavy cream 2 cups (326 g) fresh strawberries, sliced (optional) Directions In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and the 1/3 cup cold water. Stir to combine well, dissolving any lumps. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil. Cook until the berries form a sauce, approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Make sure the cornstarch-water mixture is well blended, then add it to the cooked strawberry sauce. Heat the mixture until the strawberry sauce boils again and thickens and the strawberries are soft. This will take approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in the butter and vanilla. Set aside and cool to room temperature. Beat the heavy cream in a large bowl until it holds its shape in round medium. Stir the whipped cream into the strawberry sauce and gently fold together to blend evenly. Spoon the filling into the graham cracker crust and refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours, until firm. Serve cold with sliced strawberries layered on top of the pie. Garnish with fresh mint. Refrigerate any remaining pie for up to 1 day. Makes one 9 inch pie. Try another tasty pie! Ingredients: Fresh corn on the cob, cleaned Pink Himalayan sea salt Fresh ground pepper Fresh limes Cotija cheese Butter Ground cumin Cilantro, thinly sliced Directions Place corn on the cob in a large pot and bring to boil and cook 2-3 minutes. Remove from water and allow to cool for a few minutes. Place on the grill. Rotate to get the golden grill marks. Transfer to serving platter. Brush generously with butter. Squeeze on lime juice. Sprinkle ears with ground cumin, pink Himalayan sea salt and ground pepper. Add a generous handful of Cotija cheese over the ears of corn. Top with fresh, thinly sliced cilantro.
