El Anticuado Old Fashioned Cocktail
The Old Fashioned cocktail, one of the oldest and most classic cocktails known to man. Its history dates back to the early 1800s, when it was simply referred to as a "whiskey cocktail."
Back then, cocktails were made with just a few ingredients: sugar, bitters, water, and your choice of spirit. Over time, bartenders began to experiment with different flavors and ingredients, and the Old Fashioned evolved into what we know and love today.
The name "Old Fashioned" didn't come about until the late 1800s, when bartenders began using the term to describe the traditional way of making a cocktail. To this day, the Old Fashioned remains a staple in cocktail culture, with its simple yet sophisticated blend of bourbon or rye whiskey, sugar, bitters, and a citrus garnish.
This cocktail recipe uses the golden ratio for the classic old fashioned cocktail but with the spin of substituting aged tequila or mezcal for the bourbon or whiskey.
So the next time you order an Old Fashioned, remember that you're sipping on a piece of cocktail history. Cheers!
