Take Out Goes From Ho-Hum to Yum-Yum!

Billie here with Epicurean Delights!

This might look like a meal you'd sit down and eat at your favorite Asian cuisine restaurant. What would you say if I told you that it's take-out from a fast food teriyaki place that we turned into a an Epicurean Delight?

We got busy in the Epicurean Delights kitchen and turned teriyaki chicken take out into a gourmet meal! We cooked up sweet and sour chicken with pineapple and chicken fried rice. We added stir fry veggies as well as the gyozas to the menu.

This revamp will feed two healthy appetites!

The Basics

We purchased one order of teriyaki chicken (sauce on the side), no salad and an order of gyozas. Total cost: $14.47 rounded up to $18 with the tip.

We went to the cupboard for the ingredients for the sweet and sour sauce.

We added a mix of fresh veggies to balance out the meal and add that healthy touch!

Sweet and Sour Chicken

The grilled chicken became sweet and sour chicken with pineapple.

Our fool proof recipe has pineapple juice, chicken broth, brown sugar and apple cider vinegar.

Stir Fry Veggies

We added our favorite veggies for stir fry: Mushrooms, sweet yellow onions, red pepper and zucchini.

Tip: We used an air fryer to make the mushrooms just right! You wash and trim the stems, spray with cooking spray and pop into the air fryer at 400 degrees. Bake 5 minutes on each side and lightly salt when done.

The rest of the veggies were stir fried in the wok. You can season with soy sauce once the veggies are done.

Fried Rice

We turned the take out white rice into a delicious fried version!

We took several pieces of the chicken and chopped them into pieces and sliced up four green onions (one for the garnish) and then scrambled two eggs in the wok.

Add the rice and break it into chunks, pour on soy sauce and other spices, add the chicken and green onions, and you're done!
