Isomalt Hearts Tutorial


Join Certified Master Sugar Artist, Peggy Tucker as she walks you through creating this Isomalt "Heart to Heart" Cake perfect for any celebration!


Supplies you will need for this project:

  • CakePlay Isomalt: Red, Pearl and Pink

  • Wilton measuring cups

  • Wilton Heart shape silicon cupcake cups

  • Small and large White Nonparallels

  • Spatula

  • Toothpicks

  • Silicone Trivet with a square pattern

Step 1:

Heat the Isomalt in the Microwave until melted then pour into the Wilton cupcake holders and let cool.


Step 2:

Pour a small amount of the red and Pearl and then use the toothpick to mix the colors. You can add any dust as well and swirl it in to the Isomalt.


Step 3:

When cooled just push on the bottom of the cup and the heart will pop right out.


Step 4:

Heat one edge and drip into the Nonparallel, set aside to dry.


Step 5:

Heat and pour Isomalt onto the Silicone Trivet then use the spatula to move it into

all the squares.


Step 6:

Then dry move the trivet back and fore to remove the Isomalt. Repeat until you have all three colors.

With all your Isomalt piece made you are now ready to assemble your cake.


Step 7:

To attach the heart to the fondant cover cake, heat some Isomalt ant dip one side of the bottom of the isomalt heart and place it on the cake. Continue place the heart on to the cake in the design flowing up the cake.


Step 8:

To attach the square use a small paintbrush to apply a very small amount of piping gel to the board and place the square into place.
